Rules & Regulations

As an institution affiliated to Anna University, MSAJCE adheres to the academic regulations (R-2021) to ensure the highest standards of education and assessment.

Attendance Requirements

  • A candidate must secure a minimum of 75% attendance in every course to be eligible to appear for the End Semester Examination.
  • Shortage of attendance up to 10% (i.e., 65% to 74%) may be condoned by the Principal on genuine medical grounds, subject to submission of a medical certificate.
  • Candidates with less than 65% attendance are not permitted to write the examination and must redo the course.
Note: Students who are "Prevented" due to lack of attendance will not be allowed to proceed to the subsequent semester.

Assessment Procedure

  • Performance in each course is evaluated based on:
    1. Continuous Internal Assessment (CIA): 40% Weightage
    2. End Semester Examination (ESE): 60% Weightage
  • Theory Courses: Internal marks are calculated based on 2 Assessment Tests and other assignments/activities.
  • Practical Courses: Evaluation is based on the day-to-day completion of experiments and a model practical exam.

Passing Requirements

  • To pass a course, a student must secure:
    • Minimum 45% marks in the End Semester Examination.
    • Minimum 50% marks in Total (Internal + End Semester combined).
  • If a student fails to secure a pass, they will be awarded a 'RA' (Reappearance) grade and must reappear for the exam in the subsequent semester.
  • Continuous Internal Assessment marks are valid for three attempts. After that, the student is assessed solely based on the End Semester Exam (100% weightage converted to 60/40 logic).
